How to browse ChIN site?
|
|
|
|
ChIN site can be browsed by following the two classification categories, one based on resource types
such as databases, software etc, another based on chemistry disciplines. There are two versions for ChIN,
one is static and another is fully dynamic. Browsing only by resource types is available in ChIN
static version, which is the best when you want to have a look of all indexed resources under a specific category.
Browsing both by resource types and chemistry disciplines including chemical engineering is accessible at the
home page of the dynamic version. If you want to know more about the classifications, please refer to
Major Features under About us.

How to shift between the two versions of ChIN site?

Just click the hyperlink HTML Version OR New Version at the upper right area of ChIN pages.

How to search ChIN site?
|
|
|
You can search ChIN site by Quick Search or Advanced Search.
The default matching is based on CONTAIN. For better searching hits, try different query words please.
Quick Search Searchable fields are Resource Title and Keywords in static version.
Searchable fields includes Resource Title, Keywords and URL in dynamic version.
Advanced Search Searchable fields include Resource Title, Keywords, URL and
classifications. Up to 4 searching fields can be combined. Matching mode options are available including CONTAIN/NOT CONTAIN, EQ/NOT EQ, AND/OR.
If you are not familiar with the category headings in ChIN's resource classifications,
please browse the classification trees and click the heading, the full heading will appear automatically
as input in the current searching field box. You can choose searching words by editing the heading in the box.
This is an unique feature of ChIN.

How can I access ChIN more efficiently?

Since more than 10,000 web sites or pages are in ChIN, searching first in combination
with browsing resource Details in hits list is recommended.

Why should I browse resource Details?
|
|
|
The content of Details is a summary page created in ChIN
for the indexed resource that not only outlines
the resource briefly but also provides cross links to more closely related resources and hyperlinking to keywords
as well as to belonged classifications of resource types and disciplines by automated searching. So each summary page serves as a navigator to help you getting
closer relevant information in ChIN very quickly. This is an unique feature of ChIN.

How can I get all the resources under a spesific category?
|
|
|
Just go to the static version of ChIN.
|
|
What should I do if I can't find the resource by clicking the URL?
|
|
|
This means the URL is no longer valid and often happens
when a resource was moved to different locations in the server. So just delete the path information
in URL and try the new URL consisting of only the domain name to relocate it from the target server.
